Chemicals / Plastics / Glass
Chemicals, plastics and glass may seem like different kind of industries, but during container transports they all have in common that unwanted process difficulties may occur. With our comprehensive offering, Peace of Moisture Mind®, we have the concepts needed to locate improvements through the entire moisture damage chain.
Typical damages
Challenges
Powder caking is definitely unwanted. It may not impact the goods itself but makes the material hard or impossible to use. For example, it could be a chemical in powder form that becomes useless, or plastic granules that are no longer possible to dose properly in a moulding process. This type of products is also often shipped in heavy bulk packaging. If moisture damaged it can make the cargo collapse during shipping. Another problem is applicable for glass. When shipped tightly packed the moisture makes glass sheets stick to each other with an increased risk of breaking during separation.
Solutions
For all industries in this segment shipping by container desiccants is the normal solution. Our desiccants are all based on calcium chloride as absorbent agent, which widely outperforms traditional methods based on clay and silica gel. The calcium chloride is encapsulated within the AbsorRangeTM products and will not get in contact with the goods.
We recommend
AbsorSave™ to study the actual costs for moisture damage (direct and indirect) and to calculate your savings by using Absortech’s desiccants.
